Installation Instructions

For all dahl valves: Turn off water supply. Install product. Turn on water supply, check for leaks. dahl assumes no responsibility for failure due to improper installation. Abide by local plumbing codes. Do not expose to corrosive agents.

FEMALE SOLDER: Do not dismantle valve – solder in open position. Clean pipe and valve socket with emery cloth, & apply flux to both. Pipe must be square and bottomed in socket. NPT THREAD:  Clean pipe threads and cover them with pipe dope or PTFE tape.  Tighten firmly while gripping hex on end of valve. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.

COMPRESSION ON COPPER PIPE: Do not use pipe dope or PTFE tape. Pipe must be clean, de-burred, round, & cut square. Slide nut, then ring, then valve onto pipe. Tighten firmly with small wrench. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. Compression on plastic tube: Follow tube manufacturer’s instructions; Special ring, nut, or insert may be required.

L51/2 or 7/16 OD Slip JointSLIP JOINT: Do not use pipe dope or tape. Pipe must be clean, round, cut square. Choose ring that fits snugly on the pipe, discard the other. Slide nut and ring over pipe. Create bead 3/8” to ½” from end of pipe with beading tool. Slide grommet on pipe, large end against bead. Attach to valve & tighten. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

QUICK-GRIP™  For 1/2” Copper, PEX or CPVC pipe, in accessible locations only. NOT for Kitec® , PEX-AL-PEX, Poly-B, plated pipe. Cut pipe & de-burr. Mark pipe 1-1/8” (2.9 cm) from end. (PEX only: Install pipe insert). QUICK-GRIP™ must be free of debris. Push valve onto pipe to the mark. Pull to test joint. Removal: Remove Locking Clip, depress end of QUICK-GRIP™, pull valve off.  
TW11/2 NPSM TW1NPSM TW1: Install per washlet manufacturer’s instructions. Connect directly to washlet hose. Tighten firmly by hand only. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
FP31/2 Female PressFEMALE PRESS: KEEP IN PACKAGING until installation to remain free of debris.
APPROVED PIPE: hard drawn copper only ASTM B88 types K, L, M.
MINIMUM DISTANCES: 1/4” when pressing near soldered fitting; solder 3 pipe dia. away from existing press fitting (9 for brazing).
CUT THE PIPE SQUARE using pipe cutter or fine saw.
DEBURR PIPE EDGES so all sharp edges are removed or leakage may result.
CHECK THE FITTING is clean, free of debris and O-ring is undamaged and seated correctly.
MARK INSERTION DEPTH 13/16” from end of pipe.
SLIDE THE FITTING on pipe while rotating slightly to marked depth. Pipe end must contact the stop.
PRESS THE FITTING using correct press tool & jaws, following tool manufacturer’s instructions.
INSPECT THE PRESSED JOINT to ensure proper crimp and pipe has remained fully inserted.

COMPATIBLE TOOLS* include press tools with compact/standard jaws from: RIDGID; Milwaukee; DeWalt; REMS; or VUS profile jaws. *Contact dahl Valve Limited for more information.
