Behind the Design

Why dahl Valves
Are Built Heavier

Pick up a dahl valve and you’ll notice something right away. It has weight.

For some, that might seem like a small detail. For us, it’s an intentional part of the design.

Every gram serves a purpose, and that extra weight reflects the engineering decisions we’ve made to prioritize quality, durability, and long-term reliability.

The Difference Is in The Details

Many of the features that contribute to a valve’s durability are hidden from view once installation is complete. Customers may never see the internal components, machining precision, or manufacturing standards behind the product. Yet these details play an important role in how a valve performs over its lifetime.

The reality is that quality isn’t always visible from the outside. It’s built into every step of the design and manufacturing process.

THE WEIGHT OF QUALITY

Built Heavy on Purpose.
Built To Protect What Matters.

Many of the qualities that make a valve reliable will never be seen after installation. They’re hidden behind walls, under sinks, and inside mechanical rooms, quietly doing their job day after day.

Every contractor has experienced the difference between a product built to last and one built to meet a price point. Sometimes, you can feel that difference immediately.

The weight of a dahl valve is a reflection of our commitment to quality, reliability, and craftsmanship. It’s evidence of the engineering, materials, and attention to detail built into every product.

Because when it comes to plumbing, the most important features are often the ones nobody notices until they’re missing.

The Interview

Q: How did you get started in the plumbing industry?
Mike: My dad was a contractor builder, and when I was younger, he would run into plumbing issues on summer construction projects. I helped solve a few of those problems, and that sparked my interest in the trade. My uncle was also a union plumber, so plumbing became a natural career path for me.
Q: What are some of the most memorable projects you have worked on?
Mike: Two stand out for me. I really enjoy working on log homes because they require creative plumbing design. Since there is limited access inside many of the exterior walls, the plumbing has to be carefully planned around those constraints. I have also worked on grow houses, which required extensive water filtration systems to provide clean, purified water.
Q: What advice would you give someone entering the plumbing trade today?
Mike: Show up on time. That is the biggest thing. You also need to be open-minded and willing to learn. Plumbing is not always a standard nine-to-five job.
Q: How do you find new customers?
Mike: Word of mouth is still the most powerful form of marketing. If you take care of one customer, that customer will tell others. We have seen that happen many times, especially in retirement communities where one positive experience can lead to referrals throughout the facility.
Q: What is always in your tool pouch?
Mike: A pencil, flashlight, knife and a small pair of pliers that I call my 'minis.' I probably use those pliers 50 times a day. I also make sure my service van is fully stocked so we are prepared for whatever the day brings.
